Aadhaar (UIDAI) Photo — Size, Dimensions & Requirements

Aadhaar is a bit different from other documents: for enrolment and photo updates, the photo is normally captured live at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra — you can't upload your own picture for the card itself. But there are still plenty of situations where you need an "Aadhaar-style" photo file with the right size: correction forms, linked applications, bank KYC forms that ask for an Aadhaar-format photo, and various portals that request your photo "as per Aadhaar specifications". This page validates a photo file against those specs.

How to use this checker

  1. Upload your photo file.
  2. The validator checks format, KB size and dimensions against the Aadhaar-style preset above.
  3. If something fails, use the linked resize/compress tools and re-check.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload my own photo to UIDAI for my Aadhaar card?

No. The card photo is captured at the enrolment centre. This checker is for forms and portals that ask for a photo file in Aadhaar-style specifications.

What size should the photo file be?

The format, KB and dimension limits are shown in the preset above. If your file is off, the compress and resize tools here fix it in seconds.

How do I change the photo on my Aadhaar card?

Book/visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and request a biometric/photo update. Carry your Aadhaar number; the new photo is taken on the spot.

Why was my photo rejected by a KYC portal even though it looks fine?

Nine times out of ten it's the file size in KB or the pixel dimensions — not the photo itself. Validate here and the exact failing rule will be shown.

Is the photo I check here uploaded anywhere?

No — everything runs in your browser.
