I built this background remover because I was tired of tools that promise "free" and then slap a watermark on the download or blur the HD version behind a paywall. Here, you upload a photo, the AI cuts out the background right in your browser, and you download the full-resolution result. No signup, no watermark, no catch.

How to remove a background in 4 steps

1. Click Upload (or just drag your photo onto the canvas). JPG, PNG and WebP all work.
2. Hit the Remove Background button. The AI model runs directly in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, which is also why it's genuinely private.
3. Pick what goes behind your subject: keep it transparent, make it plain white, or choose any custom color.
4. Download as PNG. If you kept it transparent, the PNG keeps real transparency — you can drop it onto any design later.

A few tips from my own testing

• Photos with decent contrast between subject and background give the cleanest cutouts. A dark shirt against a dark wall will always be harder.
• Hair and pet fur are the toughest cases for any AI. If a few strands look rough, zoom in and use the eraser/restore brush to touch up edges manually.
• Need a white background for a passport or ID photo? Choose white before downloading — many government portals reject transparent PNGs.
• The first run downloads the AI model (a few MB), so it takes a moment. Every run after that is much faster.

Is this really free? Where's the watermark?

Really free, and there is no watermark. The tool runs in your browser, so it costs me almost nothing to serve — that's why I don't need to charge for HD downloads.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The background removal AI runs entirely on your device. Your photo never leaves your computer or phone, which makes this safe for ID photos and documents.

Why does my downloaded image show a white background?

Check the background option before downloading. If you picked white (or the format is JPEG, which can't store transparency), the background gets filled. Choose "Transparent" and download as PNG for a see-through background.

Can I remove backgrounds from many photos at once?

What image formats can I upload?

JPG, PNG and WebP. For best results keep the file under ~15 MB; very large phone photos work but take a little longer.
